I love Sunday activities. In college, Sundays were always a lonely reminder that I wasn’t with my family, and I had a long day of homework ahead of me. Now that I am graduated and married, I look forward to Sunday, which is a much-needed day of relaxation and routine. Will and I usually make breakfast together, go to church, grocery shop/prepare for the week, and spend valuable time together. We love this routine.
Today’s Sunday is a little different. In fact, it’s pretty busy. Since August, I have coached Heart & Sole, a Girls on the Run program for 6th-8th graders. We trained 2x/week for a 5K race, which happens to be today! It’s been a more challenging experience than I expected. These middle schoolers have more hormones, attitude, and words than the energetic, eager-to-please 3rd-5th graders I coached three years ago. However, the opportunity to coach has taught me many ways to be a better leader, role model, and, one day, parent. The race starts in two hours, so I’m leaving to run with my girls soon and cheer them on as they cross the finish line!
After the race, I’ll pick up our normal routine for a few hours and then it’s time to celebrate! If you’re in the DC area, join us for the Sweat Pink DMV holiday party tonight at 7pm at Chelsea Collective in Tysons Corner. There will be food, shopping, and a piloxing (pilates + boxing) workout. It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect with other active women in your area… and get into the Christmas spirit!
I’m off to the 5K, but I’d love to hear about your Sunday routine. What do you do to set your week up for success? What are your favorite Sunday activities?
