We’ve officially said goodbye to 2016, the best year of my life, and reigned in the New Year! Hello, 2017! With the start of the New Year comes an opportunity to reflect and set new goals, intentions, and attitudes. I was sick all of last week and had a lot of time to reflect. I want to make 2017 my year of empowerment.
What in the world does that mean?
I want to set bigger goals, climb (and ski!) higher mountains, and look back on the year and say, “Wow! 2017 outshone 2016 in so many ways.” I want to feel strong. Empowered. Proud of what I can do physically, mentally, and professionally. This year, Fit Approach, a community of more than 5,000 #bossgirls, fitness professionals, and healthy lifestyle enthusiasts, is challenging its members to focus on their strengths and what motivates them. The #IAmEmpowered campaign celebrates what we can accomplish. To kick off the campaign, Fit Approach is hosting a week-long challenge for the community to share their goals and vision for the year. I’m not sharing all of my goals today, but here are three BIG things I’d like to accomplish in 2017:
- Become a better, less fearful skier (just call me “Cautious Courtney” on the slopes)
- Finish my ACE group training certification
- Start and finish writing my book (I’d love to be an author of Christian fiction)
My goals aren’t resolutions. They’re action plans for an empowered year. Last fall, our Girls on the Run coaching team taught our runners to set SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Timely). Behind the scenes, I’m putting this into practice today by diving deep and setting my own SMART goals.
What are your goals for the New Year? Will you join the #IAmEmpowered challenge?
Wishing you a Happy New Year,
